Welcome

High in the heart of Northumberland's Cheviot Hills, Kidlandlee is a small cluster of traditional stone buildings in the midst of Kidland Forest, with stunning views across hills, moors and deep forested valleys dissected by clear, clean streams.

Without another building in site, and no artificial light (apart from occasional troop shindigs on Otterburn Ranges), the dark skies allow uninterrupted star-gazing, and this area is rightly described as the most tranquil in England.

There are miles of excellent walking on the doorstep, and by starting at 1250 feet at least one steep climb is avoided.

Northumberland’s stunning coast, castles and historic sites are about an hour’s drive away - Alnwick, Bamburgh, Holy Island in one direction, Hadrian’s Wall in the other, with the National Trust’s Cragside at Rothbury, which is 13 miles away and Kidlandlee’s nearest shopping centre.

Two traditional stone cottages provide practical, warm and comfortable accommodation from April to October. They are ideal for people who enjoy the countryside and a truly quiet away-from-it-all experience. They are reached by a 3 mile track which can be rough at times; four wheel drive is not essential, but if you love your car more than life itself, or are nervous about off-road driving, Kidlandlee may not be for you.

Kidlandlee relies on wind and solar power, and electricity is limited. If you depend on lots of electrical gadgets and gizmos that need re-charging, Kidlandlee is definitely not the place to be.
