Getting here
The cottages are accessed by a lengthy unmade drive, which leaves
Alwinton, follows the River Alwin along its broad and beautiful valley, and then
winds up a steep hill through the surrounding forested estate. The track is maintained to ‘forestry standard’. It is stone, and can deteriorate in bad weather or when heavily used by loaded timber wagons. If you love your car more than life itself, and are planning to do lots of sightseeing every day, Kidlandlee may not be for you. Do also bear in mind that if there is snow, getting in and out can be difficult - but sledges are provided.
To reach Kidlandlee, turn right just after crossing
the bridge over the river and shortly before entering Alwinton,
signposted Clennel and Kidlandlee. Keeping to the left of Clennel
Hall grounds, follow the track along the river valley, and shortly
after entering the Kidland Forest turn sharp left and continue uphill,
taking the next turn to the right, which leads direct to Kidlandlee.
The total distance from the road is about three miles. Click on the road map below to enlarge it.
